Black Bear in Pottersville

We were recently stranded in Pottersville due to a flat tire with our two-year-old son. We are from NJ and were heading to Canada. Staff and locals very friendly. Great breakfast and service. Thank you!

We found it searching the internet; casual, greeted immediately, warmly; great service; incredible variety of home cooked meals. We picked an appetizer “bear droppings”- was really good. Spouse and I picked hot sandwiches- very good, did I say service was great and the prices more than right.

Nice restaurant with good food with many choices

Great place to stop for a quick bit during tourist season if you want to avoids all the crowds. Place is old but clean and our waitress was very nice! Food came out really fast and was tasty!

The mac and cheese bites are some of the best I've ever had. I would definitely recommend trying their turkey. Waitstaff was friendly and quick.

Good comfort food just off I87. We stopped to get food to go which they were happy to do for us. I enjoyed my cheeseburger and potato salad. The potato salad included generous amounts of egg. I'm always impressed when potato salad rises above the bland and goopy. My friend had trouble managing his club sandwich with one hand. I didn't hear him complain though.

The food we had was not really appetizing. Their pizza could taste better if they work on their marinara sauce which was as bland as it could be. Same goes with their mozzarella sticks which didn't taste good as well. Service is decent but I would not prefer going back again. The only thing slightly better according to one of the people I was with was the chicken fingers.

Delicious food and excellent customer service! This is a very homey establishment and the staff treat you like one of the locals. They have great prices and a decent menu. It’s a local gem for sure right in the Adirondacks.

Solid diner with standard fare, great service, and a cozy atmosphere. It is a wonderful rest stop on your way through the Adirondacks, especially if you are looking for something other than fast food.

Great value resteraunt for a good & filling breakfast. The omelets are huge. Waitresses were attentive and kept our coffees full, always worth an extra star. Orders were received very quickly despite the busy Saturday morning crowd.

Out door seat was nice and refreshing.

We walked in to two waitresses arguing in front of us. We waited in the entryway for a minute before seating ourselves. Our waitress came over to take our drink order and read us the specials before going onto the back and loudly continuing the argument. We both decided to order the special and waited a few more minutes, unable to ignore the argument. We walked out and went down the road to the Cafe Adirondack.

I can’t speak for lunch or dinner but I’ve always had good experiences at breakfast. Service is quick and they have all your expected menu options. Prices are below average.

The building could use an update. Good sized portions and good food more than makes up for it.Had the Buffalo chicken wing soup along with a burger. Had to take half of it home!

Always seems busy, I've not ordered food there since I was a teen, so it's been a while. There's only a few restaurants, mostly diners,. and they are far apart in this neck of the woods... Bottom line for me is that it is always a good place to make a pit stop when coming off the mountain on my way back to smallbany...

Good food & fair prices

This restaurant has a bar and a dinner. You can play pool and choose a song from the jukebox. As for dinning, service is fast. Food is ok. Took a fish sandwich and there was nothing in it except for a ranch sauce on the side. Their speciality is a shrimp basket, pretty tasty😋. Like the bear decoration gives a nice touch to the restaurant. Worth the stop.

Just had breakfast here, very simple menu and food, but so delicious! Our waitress was nice and quick and the food didn't take long to come out at all. We were stopping on the road, and barely spent half an hour here. Restaurant is clean and homey.

The Black Bear is a nice older style pub. A bar, a dining room and a pool table. The staff is friendly and helpful. I wish it was near where I live. I would be a regular there.

Needed a place to get some food and this is where we stopped. We were a group of 9 and the service was awesome. The food came fast and our three toddlers we're accommodated for without asking. I got there double patty melt and it was awesome!

In my time I enjoy reviewing fine establishments, primarily food ones. This diner, although a little old, served the food at a good pace with a delicious spicy cauliflower appetizer followed by the main course which, for me consisted of a delicious well done burger. They were extremely generous with the fries which were crispy and lightly salted. The mac and cheese was clearly from a craft mac and cheese box but still tasted fantastic. Along with incredible service the vibe was pretty good and it wasn't too loud or too quiet at any one time. The waitress went back and forth with our drinks 3 times without saying anything. Overall, great place to bring kids and or adults. 4 and a half stars (extra half is for the amazing waitress)
